Fact
"Did you know over 70% of U.S. Firefighters and EMS personnel are Volunteer?"
LANE RURAL FIRE/RESCUE has 16 career staff and over 50 volunteers who provide a wide variety of fire and rescue services to our service area. Our primary response area is 76 square miles, ranging from suburban residential, to commercial/industrial, to rural farm residences, to timberland.

Our members respond to a wide variety of emergencies including emergency medical calls, fires, hazardous materials incidents, and technical rescues. All members are also trained and equipped as wildland firefighters.

Our members come from all walks of life. Our membership includes full time, part time, resident and intern personnel. A large part of our work force is made up of highly professional volunteer members. All members receive a high level of training and are peers on the team.
Membership
Our primary selection is based on attitude, ethics, aptitude, special skills, learning ability and most of all the desire to serve.

Prior experience and education in emergency services and Fire/Rescue work is helpful, but not required. Special skills in related fields are a plus.

Applicants must be non-tobacco/nicotine product users at time of application and maintain that status. Applicants must possess a valid Oregon Driver's License with a good driving record, no felony convictions or negative criminal history to the detriment of the mission.

All members participate in Emergency Medical care. Applicants with Oregon EMT and/or Paramedic certification are given high priority. Most of our work is in the Emergency Medical field.

A high level of training is provided free to all members. Applicants with prior experience will benefit from their background and experience. We also welcome members of the community with a high desire to serve and learn new skills.

LANE RURAL FIRE/RESCUE strives to create a work environment which values the cultural, educational, and life experience background of every member. Our goal is to have a workforce that reflects that of the community. We will treat every member with dignity and human consideration and require the same in return. Gender, race, ethnicity, religion, preference, and political affiliation are not issues for us. A team attitude and a passion to serve are.
